Asus Zenfone 3 Max (ZC553KL) Snapdragon 430 Performance And Gaming ReviewA couple of months back, Asus has launched its Asus Zenfone 3 Max in India in two variants. The 5.2” display model is powered by a MediaTek processor priced at Rs. 13,999/- and there is also a 5.5” display model that is powered by a Snapdragon processor which was priced at 18,999/- at the time of launch. However, both models had got a slight price cut and are now selling at 1K – 2K lower than the actual price.

The Asus Zenfone 3 Max ZC553KL is currently priced at Rs. 16,999/- and it is the model that we have been testing and it’s definitely much better devices compared to the lower-end 5.2” ZC520TL variant in various aspects.

The variant we are testing is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 Octa-Core processor along with Adreno 505 graphics processor which gives it much needed power for running high-end games. This smartphone is having 3GB RAM, 32GB of internal storage which can also be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.

In terms of benchmarks, the Geekbench score was 634 and 1945 in single core and multi-core respectively, whereas, on the Antutu it got a score of 44174.

We tested three games on this handset and surprising, the device handled it a lot better than what we expected. The first game we tested was the Fifa 16, there was a little bit of lag, but like always after turning off the commentary, crowd FX volume from the audio controls settings, the performance was much smoother. However, while playing replays in between the game, there was noticeable amount some lag.

Moving on, the next game we tested was the Modern Strike Online and this device once again handled it very smoothly without any issues. And, the last game we tested was Need For Speed No Limits. The game was playable but there were few frame drops in between the gameplay and it took a lot of time in while loading different levels.

One problem that we noticed was due to the fact that the speaker is placed on the bottom side, due to which the sound coming out of the phone can easily get blocked,  which you can also notice in our gameplay videos.

However, Asus has also provided a useful inbuilt feature for recording the games which can be turned on or off from the settings.
